Aquatics and Maintenance Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY
This position reports directly to the Recreation Director. The position is a supervisory position responsible for all operations of all aquatic facilities and park maintenance personnel. Work involves developing, administering, and supervising a comprehensive aquatic recreation program, maintenance schedule, and managing Parks and Recreation staff and contractors.
MAJOR DUTIES
Select, supervise, train, and evaluate assigned full-time and part-time staff.
Providing feedback to correct staff behavior, goal setting, adherence to deadlines, and developing and ensuring staff training programs.
Assists in preparing, monitoring, and managing the annual budget to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the services area.
Ensure that employees are abiding by established guidelines, policies and procedures.
Reviews and logs all incident and accident reports daily. Provides follow-up to staff and families promptly.
Documents and reports facility issues and areas of concern, submit proper work orders and follow through to ensure completion of work order requests.
Ensures the development, planning, organization, implementation, and
evaluation of a variety of aquatic services.
Collaborates with Aquatic Contractors to maintain pool water chemistry;
determines amounts of chemicals required and makes additions using chemicals such as chlorine, CO2, sodium bicarbonate, muriatic acid, soda ash, etc.
Ensures the Swim coaches are offering both multi-age swim programs.
Collaborates with aquatic contractors for all services provided, including lifeguard, maintenance, and programs.
Develops an in-service training schedule for aquatic staff in water safety, first aid, CPR, and operations.
Conducts random emergency drills with pool staff. Evaluates responses for effectiveness and preparation.
Documents and reports facility issues and areas of concern, submits proper work orders and follow through to ensure completion of work order requests.
Develops a lifeguard rotation system to monitor the pools and all other pool deck operations.
Plans, organizes, and implements Red Cross Safety programs for children, teens, and adult activities.
Have the ability to walk and stand outdoors (playgrounds and parks) setting, including the pool while in extreme heat and cold for up to 8 hours daily.
Must deal with constant interruptions, noise, and meet with others on a regular basis. The employee may be exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, climb and perform repetitive motions on a daily.
Ability to operate computer software, including word processing software; calculator; copy and fax machine; phone; mobile or portable radio.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid/AED Certification or similarly national recognized organization.
Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) and/or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) within 6 months.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification or similar national recognition certification.
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or similar nationally recognized certifications.
Possess a valid Georgia Driver's license (class C) and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Aquatics and Maintenance Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The work is reviewed for accuracy, compliance with procedures, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for long periods.
Can lift and carry heavy objects (10-50 lbs.), sit, bend, squat, and twist on daily; must be able to physically operate a county vehicle.
Have the ability to sit for long periods using equipment and computers.
Have a personal vehicle to drive for daily business on a mileage reimbursement basis.
Have the ability to walk and stand outdoors (playgrounds and parks) setting, including the pool while in extreme heat and cold for up to 8 hours daily.

The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping.
The work is typically performed in an office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Aquatic Management, or related field.
Three (3) years of experience in recreation, aquatic management, with management and government (local, state, or federal) experience or equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
